On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), GIZ supports Serbia’s efforts to achieve convergence with the EU, to strengthen economic performance and to consolidate democratic structures. To this end GIZ implements programmes and projects in the following fields sustainable economic development and employment; democracy, civil society and public administration; public infrastructure (energy and water). 

Serbia also benefits from GIZ projects at the regional level. The transnational Open Regional Fund for South-East Europe supports measures in the fields of legal reform, foreign trade advisory services, modernisation of municipal services, energy efficiency and renewable energies. GIZ is also implementing a project for the assessment of biomass availability in Serbia.
