A non-profit institution that since 2002 offers research, scientific analysis and actual application services in the waste valorisation area. CVR, is located in Guimarães, Portugal, and works closely with Minho University Engineering School, and has a very close relationship to industrial companies acting in different fields of activity.

Associates include 85 organizations from several different fields of activity. Core activity is the development of solutions for various waste issues faced by industry. CVR has developed several R&D projects regarding material valorisation of waste, and presently is also focusing on the energetic valorisation of waste including biofuels production. These projects are financed by private companies, and also by public funding by the Portuguese Government and the UE/EU FEDER/ERDF.
