FNR was initiated in 1993 by the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry to support research and development in the area of renewable resources. It provides professional consultation and financial support as well as taking part in scientific events, notifying results of research to the general public and providing information on all aspects of renewable resources. Is involved in a range of national and EC Projects relating to biofuels including EBTP, BESTF2, EnAlgae, Biomass Policies, CORE-JetFuel and others.
