The International Symposium on Alcohol Fuels (ISAF) is a non-profit international organization which gathers together specialists, technologists, executives and technical experts from alcohol, alcohol fuels, methanol, ethers and bio-fuel industries. It is one of the oldest world-wide conferences on alcohol fuels as an alternative fossil fuels, 1st and 2nd generation biofuels, anaerobic digestion, power generation, emission and sustainable issues. It has been held successively every 2 years. Topics covered include:

1. Production technology for sustainable first and second generation alcohol fuels
- Innovative, energy efficient and sustainable 1st generation alcohol fuels production
- Pretreatment and conversion of lignocellulosic and algal biomass
- Biomass derived hydrocarbons and biorefineries
2. Sustainable oxygenated biofuels
- Bioethanol, methanol, bio-butanol, biodiesel, pyrolysis oil technology, Bio-DME
3. Alcohols and other biofuels for transport
- Fuel consumption, power and emission for transportation fuels (ground transportation, aviation)
- Fuel additives, alcohol-fossil dual fuel technologies
- Impact on lubrication and engine oil durability
- Hydrogen production from biofuels for transport application
- After-treatment system
4. Environmental impact of alcohol fuels
- Emissions of controlled substances, CO2 other GHG emissions, catalysts
- Effects of alcohol on the corrosion of materials
5. Strategies, policies, barriers and markets
- Biofuels/biochemicals economics and commercialization
6. IEA group meeting
- Liquid Bio-fuels
- AMF (Advanced Motors Fuels)
