Representation on WG5. The European Council for Automotive R&D evolved from the Joint Research Committee (JRC) of the European motor vehicle manufacturers. It continues to foster strategic cooperation in research & technological development defining a European approach to new automotive technologies through as series of working groups of two types: System Integration groups (SG's), and the Enabling Technology Groups (EG's). The Powertrain group topics include diesel and gasoline combustion as well as exhaust after-treatment extending to biofuels and blends.
